The Calamus Wheatland Community School District is excited to share that the school board officially approved the 2025–2026 district calendar — and includes a few important updates to highlight. Key Calendar Changes

1. Early Dismissals Move to Fridays

Starting next school year, early dismissals will shift from Wednesdays to Fridays. Students will be released every Friday at 1:15 PM. This change brings several key benefits:

• Consistent Learning Time: Fridays often have lower attendance and early student departures for activities. Moving early dismissals to Friday helps maximize focused learning during the rest of the week.
  

• Improved Logistics: Friday early dismissals better support transportation needs, especially for evening events.
  

• Stronger Alignment: This change supports students enrolling in EICC academies, taking EICC courses, and engaging with other educational partners.
  

• Professional Development: Teachers gain more consistent instruction time and dedicated time at the end of the week for planning and professional growth.

2. Preschool Schedule Change

Preschool classes will now run Monday through Thursday, with no preschool on Fridays. This new structure offers:

• A Predictable Routine: Young learners benefit from a steady weekly schedule, helping them adjust smoothly when they transition to a full five-day school week.
  

• Time to Recharge: A three-day weekend gives preschoolers the rest they need to return each Monday ready for active, meaningful learning.
