Gavin at John Deere

The Calamus Wheatland School Board approved the district to apply for and be named a Registered Apprenticeship Sponsor.

Calamus-Wheatland’s First Registered Apprentice is Gavin Schulz

Gavin interviewed with John Deere for the apprenticeship position and will begin working on June 28, 2021. He will work full 40 hours a week in the summer and up to 20 hours a week during the school year. Unlike the Internship Program, this is a paid apprenticeship program.

Now that Calamus Wheatland is a Registered Apprenticeship sponsor, we are able to start additional apprenticeship programs. An employer interested in growing their own skilled workforce is able to work with the district, and together we can begin to outline a program that fits the employer's needs.

This is a great opportunity for employers to grow their own employees, invest in our communities, recruit local talent, and create a school to work pipeline.  Best of all, Calamus Wheatland can help!!

If you know anyone looking for an apprentice,  contact Mrs. Mary Jo Petersen at mjpetersen@cal-wheat.net or 563-374-1292 to begin the process.

What a great time to be a Warrior!!!
