USS Arizona artifact

Today we celebrated and honored our Veterans during our Veterans Day program.  Veterans in attendance were individually recognized and given cards from Girl Scout Troop 2423. Guest speaker, Ms. Kayla Martens, served 8 years in the Army National Guard and related her experiences of serving.

In addition, the district has received a piece of the aft deckhouse superstructure of the USS Arizona from the Department of the Navy.  This artifact (see pictures) and and a few other items created by students will be on display to view in the near future. Thank you to Mr. VanBlaricome for requesting this piece of history to be shared with our communities now and in the future.

Thank you to the Calamus American Legion, Wheatland American Legion and auxiliaries for being part of our program.  Thank you Veterans and community members for your presence on this important day - we look forward to seeing you all again next year.

Thank you to First Trust & Savings Bank for providing the awesome treats from Back to Agatha Cheescakes (cheesecake), Sarah Beuthien (cookies) and Wheatland Grocery (frosted brownies).

Thank you to all of our students, staff, community members and to anyone else that may have helped in any way to make this day so special each and every year.
