Happy Homecoming Week! Here are the dress up days for the secondary building:

Remember that tomorrow, Monday, October 7 is Picture Day!! #gowarriors

Our communities have been generous through the years when it comes to making investments in our schools and creating opportunities for our students. However, the oldest portions of our facilities in Calamus and Wheatland date to 1950, meaning 21st century learning can be challenging.
At the high school, the last major work occurred in 2005. Some of the priorities identified at this campus include:
➡️ No secure entry
➡️ The Ag Building and its equipment are outdated and the building is not connected
➡️ Poor circulation throughout the building
➡️ Small classrooms
➡️ Deteriorating hallway floors
➡️ Windows that leak and lack screens
➡️ Crowded stairwells and hallways
➡️ Lack of resource space
➡️ Limited number of restrooms

The School Board and administration have long taken a practical and cost-effective approach when it comes to making facility improvements. They have a history of respecting the needs of our property taxpayers.
Cal-Wheat’s total levy rate has declined by more than 15% since 2013. We are now asking voters to consider a $7.5 million bond referendum on November 5 that, if approved, would provide the funds needed to address facility challenges in our schools.
The proposed tax impact of the bond referendum is $2.70 per $1,000 of taxable property value, which amounts to an additional $14.55 per month on a home assessed at $150,000.

The CWEA shirts for Mrs. Linville’s fundraiser have arrived and are being sorted this morning. Please stay tuned for pickup information. We will send out notification when the orders are ready.

REMINDER: Don’t forget to attend our community meeting on Tuesday at the high school in Wheatland, starting at 7:00pm.
This event will provide residents with an opportunity to learn more about the $7.5 million bond referendum on the November ballot, ask questions, and provide feedback.
Find more details about the bond and the ways it would provide more resources and opportunities for our students: https://www.calwheatbond2024.org

If you’re a registered voter who resides in the Calamus-Wheatland Community School District, you can request a mailed absentee ballot for the November 5 election through your county auditor’s office.
Mailed ballots will be sent out beginning October 17. The final day to request a mailed ballot is October 21.
