Caleb Appleby was the winner of the Stock Market Challenge in Mrs. Luepker's Financial Literacy class. He placed 26th out of 267 teams across the region. Students were given $100,000 to buy stocks and then kept track of their gains and losses. Congrats Caleb.

All Iowa public school districts are required to administer an annual survey called Conditions for Learning. This survey administration is required by the state's plan to meet a federal law called Every Student Succeeds Act. School districts will use the results from students, parents/guardians and staff to improve safety, student engagement and the overall learning environment. The Calamus-Wheatland music department performed at the Iowa High School Music Association Solo/Ensemble Contest on Saturday, April 15th. There were nearly 30 students that performed some combination of solos and small ensembles, both vocal and instrumental, receiving I (Superior), II (Excellent), and III (Good) ratings. The highlight of the day was the clarinet quintet of Alyssa VanderHeiden, Ryan Dick, Sarah Forret, Macailah Jacobsen, and Alex Rickertsen receiving the Outstanding Performance of the day, one of two such awards given that day, and the only instrumental one. These students will have the opportunity to perform at the Outstanding Performance Showcase in Ames on Tuesday, May 16th.
